Minnow-dipper..... :) I had an interesting experience yesterday....took my son's broken fiddle (the one a kid stepped on a while back....and broke the scroll off the neck) over to this guy who advertised in the paper that he repaired violins. I figured the insurance paid for the replacement instrument and so this one cost me .......nothing but the repair bills........so why not, eh?

After convincing this adorable, 84 year old gentleman that I really *didn't* want to "save a few bucks and just nail it back on".........he started showing me fiddles his son had made. He looked at me funny when I asked if the kid could come watch the repair job...and asked me all sorts of questions about the fiddle and the fiddler. And then he played me a few tunes. Turns out he's been repairing instruments for 40 years. We talked music, gardens and traveling and like most old folks who live away-out in the country, he was a little tough to .......say goodbye to. :)

But... I had time to chat yesterday and he was pretty darned interesting. I must've pbutted the test and he's going to find me a replacement neck for the fiddle and he invited me to bring my son over to watch him work on the fiddle, when he gets ready to take it apart. I think he was having fun w-me about nailing that old fiddle back together.....at least I *hope* he was! KateH :)
