summer. performance. Well. Ron Stewart and Jesse Brock both left the band when it became apparent that Lynn's recovery was going to be very slow and the outcome uncertain; Ron is playing fiddle with J. D. Crowe & The New South, and I believe Jesse is playing with Dale Ann Bradley. They haven't been replaced at this point, so for now there basically isn't a Lynn Morris Band. What a great week of musicWhat a week it turned out to be. I spent most of it wearing my poor wee fingers out learning tunes to play. On Saturday I got to... That being said, Lynn *is* on the mend. She appeared at the Parkfield Bluegrbutt Festival in Parkfield, CA on May 7 and 8, with Chris Jones (a former Lynn Morris Band and Whetstone Run member) and Jeremy Garrett of the Chris Jones Coalition on guitar and fiddle respectively and Lloyd Douglas, a former Virginia Boy (and a fine picker) on banjo, plus - of course - Marshall Wilborn on bbutt. I was only able to catch the band's single set on the 7th, and Lynn only got up for one song on that one, but she sounded good. Her singing was a little wobbly, which was to be expected, I think, but her rhythm lick on the guitar was fine. She is one determined lady, and I anticipate that her performance schedule will ramp up with a continued recovery, though I don't know that she will ever be at it as hard as she once was. I do know that it was great to see her in action again. -- Jon Weisberger
