Upright Bbutt strings 57

still find the action too high. I have lowered the adjustable bridge as low as possible and still too high (must be the electric bbutt in me.....:) I believe that the strings I have on now are Tomastik Spirocores. Is it

I'll agree that 12 is a lot closer to reasonable Larry, but look around lately...

Spirocores are made in two tensions; you might want to try the softer - I believe, though I'm not sure, these are labeled "weich" - unless that's what you already have on, in which case you're out of luck.

Gut strings fray, and most of the gut string users I know tell me they have to spend some time clipping the loose "hairs." They're also much more temperature and humidity sensitive, so keeping them in tune is more difficult and time-consuming.

The 7710s have a slightly lower tension than the Thomastiks, but quite possibly not enough to make a significant difference to you. At some point you just have to bite the bullet and work up some additional finger strength demands more physical effort than the electric.
