Help....Sore Fingers
First off don't go back to the light strings right away. When you moved to...

Hey there,

It's time for the second SPPS bit torrent. The torrent is currently up and running at www.taperfriendly.com-spps We hope to teach you about a wonderful band. For those of you who do not know about Charlie Waller and the Country Gentlemen here's the story. We wanted to share a fantastic show from 2003 with you. As we thought about this we realized that we were thinking a little bit short sighted. You see the Country Gentlemen were formed on July 4th 1957, Charlie Waller one of the founding members is still with the Country Gentlemen today. To properly introduce you to the Country Gentlemen we would have to release a dozen shows. Now we cannot do that right now but we did feel it was very important to share more than just a 2003 performance with you.

The first show is from the Country Gentlemen Festival at Wayside Park in West, VA. We are not 100% sure on this date. When I received this show it was labeled 7-1-1971, I actually believe this show is from 7-1-1978. When we know for sure we will let you all know but we really wanted to get this wonderful show in your hands. There is one heartbreaking cut in "bringing Mary home" but other than that this show is superb. You will get to hear true Country Gentlemen humor, along with their wonderful harmonies and superior picking. This show contains two sets from this festival and is extremly enjoyable.

The second show is from August 2nd 2003 at AFBA Bluegrbutt Festival Wind Gap, PA. This is modern Country Gentlemen, just as powerful a band as they have always been. This show not only includes Charlie Waller but Charlie's son Randy Waller. If you thought Del and Ronnie McCoury sound alike wait until you hear these two!! Again this show has many clbuttic numbers by the new band while still keeping with the style that the Country Gentlemen have been known for throughout their 46 year history.

Besides these shows, when you head over to the SPPS download page you will see a magazine article. This article is from a 1970 Muleskinner news and is there for your enjoyment and education about Charlie Waller and the Country Gentlemen. Please enjoy this article and the pictures that go with it. This article has been republished with permission.

The Country Gentlemen having been around since 1957, obviously they have a ton of music for you to purchase. There are countless cds of old and new material, on the Country Gentlemen CDs you will find a host of talent as the lineup changed except for Charlie over the last 46 years. The website to learn more about Charlie and the Country Gentlemen is at www.charliewaller.net and you can find their cds at most of your online cd stores. Like always, please purchase this artists commercial material!!
