If you have not heard about the SPPS yet here is a little run down and some updates. The Steam Powered Preservation Society is a not for profit enbreasty dedicated to the preservation of our musical heritage. Our current mission is to acquire, digitize, archive and distribute some recordings of significant historical value recorded for the last 50 years by Tut Taylor. These tapes are the history of Bluegrbutt and early country music. They were recorded from the 1950's on and include recordings of now famous bluegrbutt musicians, bluegrbutt festivals, rural jam sessions, etc. The SPPS will be acquiring these tapes to make them available to the general public, the trading community and to educational resources. Here are a few Steam Powered Preservation Society announcements you will probably want to know about.

First off we are at about $6600 raised so far, we still need everyone's help as we to continue to get closer to our initial goal of $15,500. We've been going at this for about 5 weeks so we feel were doing pretty well, especially since it is Christmas time. Please donate what you can, when you can, it is all greatly appreciated!!

We have made some changes to our web page, please go take a look and let us know your opinions.

The SPPS is getting recognition from a number of different organizations that we will be telling you about in the very near future. We have been told by a large number of people that there is great support behind our mission and have had offers of help in many different formats by a number of organizations and people. We the board want to express our thanks to all of the people that are supporting this cause both monetarily and by volunteering some of your time-skills. If you would like to volunteer in any way for the cause please get in touch.

SPPS is very pround to also inform you of our very first SPPS bit torrent. This Torrent is up right now for you to download but is not part of the Tut Tapes Archive. What we have on our site is a non circulated John Hartford show with many more non circulated taper-trader friendly bluegrbutt-oldtime shows coming in the very near future.

You can access the torrent at our webpage

the torrent is at the bottom of the page and there are even instructions for those of you who are not familar with a bit torrent or .flac compression software.

Everyone have a great week and please go download this wonderful show.

Be part of History, save the Tut Tapes Preserve these recordings for your grandchildren's children
