Yep... It's that time of year again. As certain a sign of fall as the changing hues of our beloved Blue Ridge Mountains, are the sounds of bluegrbutt music at the annual Roanoke Bluegrbutt Weekend All Star Concert.
Each year, as many as 150 serious students of bluegrbutt music travel to Roanoke from all over the US (and Canada) to study at our event, where instruction is offered for banjo, bbutt, fiddle, guitar and mandolin with some of the top players in bluegrbutt music.
One of the high points each year is our Saturday faculty concert, where the instructors perform on stage in various groupings and settings. We find that all of the performers enjoy the loose and even unpredictable nature of this show, as musicians are often put into groups with others they have never played with, or may not have shared a stage with in years. There is always a mix of vocal and instrumental music and the spontaneous, fun-filled atmosphere is as evident to the audience as it is the performers.
