Well, Captain bonehead, may I direct your attention to the headers up top? Given that this discussion takes place in rcmw, nashville.general and amb, it only seems logical to direct attention to those aspects of western civ that are germane to the topics of the groups, and it really boggles the mind that one needs to add the word 'alleged.' Hiram King Williams made no bones about the black guy that taught him a great deal of what he knew about music, Jimmie Rodgers' status as an heir to the blues is well-nigh unmistakable. One could also bring up the fact that American cuisine couldn't possibly look the way it does without African influence (deep-fat frying comes from there, pretty hard to do a french fry without it, leaving aside fried chicken or chicken fried steak), asian imports (most of the spices, the one that comes immediately to mind is cinnamon or its ersatz cousin cbuttia), not to mention italian foods (and of course the tomato part needed to get imported to Italy from the New World before it could make the trip here in the form of a good marinara sauce)
