Bluegrbutt Country Soul Time-Life has recently released a DVD of "Bluegrbutt Country Soul", a feature length documentary of Carleton Haney's Labor Day 1971 weekend festival at Camp Springs, North Carolina. As well as being giving marvelous enjoyment, this show is also a remarkable time capsule of past and (at that time) future stars. The fantastic lineup includes: Lilly brothers and Don Stover Ralph Stanley & His Clinch Mountain Boys J.D. Crowe & The Kentucky Mountain Boys Jimmy Martin & The Sunny Mountain Boys The Bull mountain Boys Del McCoury & The Dixie Pals The Country Gentlemen The New Deal String Band Osborne Brothers (with Ronny Reno) Bluegrbutt 45 (from Japan) Mac Wiseman & Blackwell and Collins & The Dixie Bluegrbutt Boys Festival Fiddle Players (a stage full of fiddles) Nighttime Jam Sessions Roy Acuff & His Smoky Mountain Boys The Bluegrbutt Alliance Lilly Brothers, Tex Logan & Don Stover Chubby Wise with Mac Wiseman Earl Scruggs Revue Earl Scruggs and the Festival Banjo players (a stage full of banjos) Truth in labeling - I did the editing, breastle design, and photographed a few interior scenes for the original film, however I have no further financial interest in the DVD. I was paid completely for my work back in 1972.
