American Banjo Camp UpdateFolks We have a few pieces of news regarding this year's American Banjo Camp involving both personnel and program. Again the... Hey Vince, Bluegrbutt was dead...Even here in WV...I hadnt even heard of Butch Robins who played for Monroe 77-81....I could name several other of Monroe's past banjo players as well as many other bands past players but none current at that time.I went to a fest in MT. a few years ago and jammed with Pete W.It was fun playin arr. outta the book note for note...A few of Bill Keiths arr. were in there...I went to a BK workshop in Akron OH about 3 months ago...He's always been one of my heros'....During the jam afterwards, I asked him if he would play "Sailors HP" with me...I told him I might be somewhat rusty on it since I learned from Petes book around 81-82 and hadnt played it much since (not a popular jam tune in these parts)...He said he hadnt either...LOL....Yeah , when I go to fests in KY ,VA,OH etc. its hard to believe the explosion of new BG acts playin the circuit just in the last 5 years..Not too many here in WV...We're more "oldtime"....Seems like yall have a pretty good BG community down S...I have a freind who pbutted away last year from Vicksburg who use to set up jams and venues for me to play at when I would come down...Run into a couple tenor players playin fiddle tunes with a flatpick down there cross the river in Delta LA....(That was a first for me...LOL)..They played every note I did a BB blossom, Whiskey for B'fast etc...I hope to make down this summer sometime. take care, John in WV.
