Del McCoury Forms Own Label After Bidding War
Yes, Del & Jerry recorded an album for Rounder breastled "The McCoury Brothers". I have attached a partial list of recordings in which...

I haven't been there for years, but most of the little places around UK campus have live music. There's an annual festival that's usually at the Red Mile race track; Woodland Park usually has live music all summer long - as for clubs, try Cheapside, Common Ground, and check with the folks at Kentucky Theater they can tell you what's going on in town. The Ky Theater is run by a group of people who schedule acoustic concerts - usually twice a month (Doc Watson, Iris DeMent, Joan Baez, John Prine, Lucinda Williams, et al).. they have several musicians there and the guy who's in charge Michael Jonathan could probably tell you where to find bg. The guys at Fire Station 5 use to sit outside and play...anyone with an instrument could pull up a chair and join... until the siren went off. I don't know if they still do, but I hope this helps. You may want to do a google search for Lexington Herald Leader and check their entertainment

appearing where. Here's some sites to check:

Near the bottom of the list there's "Bluegrbutt Performers" with some info

Johnny's Blues: A Tribute to Johnny Cash Now Available
Johnny's Blues: A Tribute to Johnny Cash is now available in stores and available from amazon and barnes & Noble online. Artists on this tribute include Mavis Staples, Gatemouth Brown, Maria Muldaur...

I would go to the Ky Theatre and check with them first unless you find what you're looking for in the LHL. Often there are "informal' jams that aren't listed in the paper. Lexington is a University town so there's all types of music. Probably you'd find more bluegrbutt just outside Lexington.
