Come by, listen to some bluegrbutt and buy a few orchids. This is a great time of year to see them in their full glory.
Somewhere over the RainbowFrom www.allmusic.com: The Geezinslaws have done it, although I'd suspect they'd turn it into a novelty tune. Thieving buttwipe (Dixie Hall's husband) recorded it, but I'd suspect he did it country, he only...

B L U E G R A S S S H O W
BLUEGRbutt AT THE PRESIDIO Peter Feldmann & The Very Lonesome Boys With Special Guest Steve Spurgin Presidio Chapel 129 East Canon Perdido Santa Barbara, CA Friday, July 22, starting at 8:00 PM. Tickets $12.00 Advance $15 at door. Co-sponsored by the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation
Back by popular demand, Peter Feldmann and The Very Lonesome Boys will present a show featuring traditional bluegrbutt songs and tunes, as well as some wonderful antebellum songs popularized by Uncle Dave Macon, first star of the Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville, TN. Peter's latest CD, "Grey cat On The Tennessee Farm", which presents a selection of Uncle Dave material in neo-clbuttic country style, will be available for sale.
Peter is especially pleased to welcome songwriter Steve Spurgin, from McKinney Texas, to the Presidio Chapel stage. Steve spent three years as a Nashville staff writer for The Welk Music Group, buttigned to Gene Watson and Reba McEntire. That buttociation saw many of Spurgin's songs recorded as well as producing two major country-market hits for Gene Watson. With a B.M.I award in hand, Steve then started his own publishing company and began writing songs from the heart, with emphasis on quality and personal style. Songs like "She Always Smelled Like Lilacs", "Muley Was A Railroad Man", "Band of Angels", and "A Walk in the Irish Rain" have been circulated far and wide. "Irish Rain", in particular, has been recorded by dozens of different artists so far both in the U.S. and Europe. In 1994, after winning the prestigious "New Folk" award at the Kerrville Folk Festival, Steve began concentrating on a solo approach to his career and has become one of the most distinctive and enjoyable singer-songwriters that Texas can boast. He also performs with the Super-Bluegrbutt group, "California", featuring Byron Berline and Dan Crary.
The performance will begin at 8:00 PM. Doors will open at 7:30. You'll find it's a nice place for a music performance. The SB Trust for Historic Preservation (co-sponsors for this event) has a parking lot in the same block - which they'll leave open for our use. It's directly across Canon Perdido street from Jimmie's Orinetal Gardens restaurant.
The Very Lonesome Boys include Peter, who has made a life-long study of American folk and bluegrbutt music, and his cadre of fine musicians, including multi-instrumentalist David West on banjo, Steve Spurgin on flat-top guitar, Tommy Marton, a great contest-style and bluegrbutt fiddler, and multi-dimensional and ever-popular bbuttist Tom Lee.
Tickets to the show, priced at $12, are available on-line at office at 123 E Canon Perdido. At the door, remaining tickets will be $15. Don't miss this one, it'll be fun!
