Jam in Manchester, NH 104Forwarding the Invite from one of the monthly jams I attend: e-mails removed to spare frank the spam. ----- I ain't gonna work on...
Poem by Chaw Mank and Joe Kingston. I'd never heard of them before, but Mr. Google knows them pretty well. They don't quite qualify as obscure, just differently-famous.
Fokke!! I know you know he put an "e" in there. I don't recall which award, I think it was one of the BU awards, but he handed it back and asked them to please put the E in it. I think they might have been able to recycle the "e" they put in an award they gave to Tom, he asked them to please change the 'e' in their "Grey" to "Gray."
They recorded it in 64 or 65, too. The Gents had a minor hit in (correct me I've got it alternatively-right, Jon) 1965 with it.
I don't think I've ever heard John or Charlie sing the "I wondered more and more" verse. I also don't think the matter is as simple as 'forgetting' a verse: ISTR it involves the first half of one Gents-done verse-half the Clifton- exclusive versehalf a Clifton verse-second half of the same verse just truncated. Again, I could have that differently-correct, I don't have the Clifton recording to hand, all of my vinyl currently residing three area codes away in the new house we plan to move into by Thanksgiving.
Yep, about how I remembered it
