Acutab We have news about a couple of new products: one new and shipping and one which has been repeatedly delayed. We also have a new accessory item to help you show your support of tab literacy and bluegrass music. ALAN BIBEY - MASTER MANDOLINIST First up we are delighted to announce that our Alan Bibey mandolin video is finally finished! This one was shot in February of this year and final edits are only now complete. The video is entitled, ³Alan Bibey - Master Mandolinist,² and is designed to offer instruction, motivation and added repertoire for mandolinists at every level. Running two hours in length, the video covers a number of topics and techniques of interest to any player plus nine tunes which Alan demonstrates in detail using a split screen format. A booklet is included with both tab and standard notation for the tunes which Alan covers. After a quick overview of his background and early learning experiences, Alan discusses his influences (big emphasis on Bill Monroe) followed by a wide ranging discussion and demonstration of pick direction, crosspicking, downstrokes, tremolo, triplets, warm up/practice, finding the melody, accompaniment and fills. That is followed by the breaking down of the various tunes. Visit the AcuTab web site for more details plus a list of tunes, some screen shots and a number of short video samples which can be viewed online. http://www.acutab.com/bibeyvideo $35.00 (USD) FIRST ACUTAB DOBRO BOOK We announced our Rob Ickes dobro book as being available about two months ago - but it still hasn¹t shipped. A number of very frustrating occurrences have conspired to slow the release - including a printing company going out of business in the middle of the job! We have engaged another printer and the book is expected to ship by the end of October - at the latest! We apologize for the repeated delays and appreciate the patience of all the folks who placed orders for Rob¹s book over the past two months. It is a great book, with all the tabs for Rob¹s dobro solos from the first three Blue Highway CDs. More details at: http://www.acutab.com/ickes $25.00 (USD) ACUTAB LOGO BALL CAP In response to repeated customer requests, we now have a ball cap with the AcuTab logo embroidered on the front. This is a 100% cotton, unstructured six panel cap. The cap is a denim blue with a contrasting khaki visor - low profile design, fabric adjustment strap with brass buckle. See a photo of the cap and place an order online at: http://www.acutab.com/hat.html $15.00 (USD) TOM ADAMS - BANJO TABS FOR THE STORM STILL RAGES AcuTab has carried two great self-published tab books created by five string wizard Tom Adams and is the process of creating an AcuTab artist book for Tom which we hope to release in 2002. In the meantime, Tom has put together a new book of tabs from his most recent effort, Rhonda Vincent¹s fabulous new release, ³The Storm Still Rages.² The books contains 29 separate tabs from 13 tunes including both the banjo breaks and selected backups. Tom even includes a tab for the ENTIRE banjo track on The Martha White Theme! What a great way to study the playing of such an influential picker. Tom has finished the tabs but has been away from home a great deal of late and apologizes for the delay in getting the book out. In his most recent communication with me, he indicated that he was waiting until he could put together sufficient advance orders before he actually got the book from the printers. Long time AcuTab customers may recall that we did something similar when we reprinted the ³Masters Of The 5 String Banjo² book last year. I told Tom that I would help spread the word that the book was going to be available and try to secure enough advance orders to get it printed ASAP.
